Powdery mildew is a fungal disease that affects plants and is recognizable by a white, powdery coating on the leaves or other plant parts. Across the entire Jerez region, approximately 90% of the vines were affected, and harvest losses of 40% are expected.

Their droppings are a valuable organic fertilizer that contains many nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which are important for the growth of the vines. One sheep brings around 400g of droppings into the vineyard every day.
